Also known as Golden Root Skullcap and Chinese Skullcap. Small purple-blue flowers are borne on many simple racemes. Long, lanceolate leaves. (Scutellaria baicalensis)

Medicinal: In traditional Chinese medicine the root of this cooling herb, Huang Qin, is used to treat fevers and digestive problems. An excellent nerve tonic that reduces nervous tension while tonifying the central nervous system.

Growing instructions: Perennial in zones 3-8. Stratify 2-4 weeks. Germination at 70°F in 14-21 days. Transplant or direct sow in spring. Full sun or light shade. Grows 12-24" tall. Space 9" apart in well-drained soil.
