Purslane, Summer: Goldberg
Upright plants with large, smooth, succulent leaves used as a cut-and-come edible for salads. This is a cultivated variety with much larger leaves and better flavor than the wild type. (Portulaca oleracea sativa)
Medicinal: Wild purslane is a source of omega-3 fatty acids. Hypotensive and diuretic properties reported.
Growing instructions: Annual. Germinates at 70°F in 7-10 days. Direct sow in spring after last frost. Full sun. Grows 12-18" tall. Space 12" apart.
