Hardy herb from China and Siberia, producing a dense basal growth of large, deeply divided palmate leaves. Flowers in three months to form 5" tall spikes of red-purple racemes with light lavender flowers. (Leonurus sibericus)

Medicinal: Bitter, diuretic traditionally used for menstrual and uterine conditions. Contraindicated for pregnancy. Stimulates circulation and regulates heartbeat and blood pressure. Contraindicated for hypothyroid condition.

Growing instructions: Biennial in zones 3-8. Germination at 70°F in 7-21 days. Transplant or direct sow in spring or fall. Full sun. Grows 18-72" tall. Space 18" apart.
