Upright stems with pungent leaves shaped like a lion's tail. Used as a source of green dye for wool. (Leonurus cardiaca)
Medicinal: Traditionally used for menstrual and uterine conditions as well as a cardiac tonic. Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Growing instructions: Perennial in zones 3-8. Germination at 70°F in 14-21 days. Transplant or direct sow in spring or fall. Full sun. Grows 24-72" tall. Space 12" apart.
