French Marigold: Tashkent #1
Discovered outside an old Muslim school in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 1992 by flower seed collector, Bob Bell. Robust, vigorous, and fragrant, this stunning marigold has dense, bushy foliage and sweetly-scented leaves that perfume the air on a hot summer day. It lacks the astringent odor found in many common marigolds. 'Tashkent #1' bears numerous 1-1/2" to 2" single flowers with yellow centers surrounded by velvet mahogany rays, rimmed with fine, bright-gold borders. Maturing petals change from mahogany-red to orange-red. Plants are 12" to 16" tall. This is the finest marigold that we have grown. (Tagetes patula)
