This decorative fennel has beautiful lacy bronze leaves. Useful as an ornamental as well as a culinary sweet fennel. (Foeniculum vulgare dulce 'Rubrum')
Medicinal: Fennel is used as a carminative to relieve flatulence and colic while stimulating digestion. It is also anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory, and is similar to anise in calming bronchial coughs. It has estrogenic activity and is used to stimulate milk flow in nursing mothers.
Growing instructions: Biennial in zones 2-5, perennial in zones 6-10. Germination at 70°F in 7 to 14 days. Direct sow. Space 6" apart. Full sun. Grows 36"-48" tall.
