73 days to maturity. Indeterminate. Developed by Jeff McCormack, Ph.D., from a cross of two well-known heirloom tomatoes, OTV Brandywine and Eva Purple Ball. Brandēva combines the color, flavor, and fine texture of OTV Brandywine with the disease-resistance, productivity, and flavor of the smaller Eva Purple Ball. It retains the best qualities of both varieties, while eliminating some of less desirable traits. Has good tolerance to Septoria leaf spot. The medium-sized fruits average 6 ounces, measuring 2-3/4" wide x 2" tall. Fruit color is a dusky red. The interior color is rosy pink, occasionally streaked with red. The flavor is sweet, buttery, smooth, and multidimensional. This was the most productive, dependable, and disease-resistant variety in our 2004 trials. Like Eva Purple Ball, it bears well the entire season. Some variability has been kept in this release for the purpose of retaining vigor and productivity.
