
Astragalus
Also known as Chinese Milk Vetch. A legume with a reclining, spreading growth habit. (Astragalus membranaceus)
Medicinal: The 4th or 5th year root is a traditional Chinese herb, Huang Qi, used since ancient times to increase and tonify chi. Immunomodulator, stimulates phagocytosis and interferon production, stimulates pituitary-adrenal cortical activity. Cannot ship to HI.
Growing instructions: Perennial in zones 5-8. Scarify seed. Germination at 70°F in 7 to 12 days. Transplant or direct sow. Space 8" apart. Full sun. Grows 24" tall. Does not tolerate heavy soil.
