Also known as Wild Bee Balm. A favorite of hummingbirds and bees. The flowers of varying shades of red or lavender may be added to salads. Use the strongly fragrant dried leaves for tea and potpourris. (Monarda fistulosa)
Medicinal: Used by several Native American tribes as a carminative.
Growing instructions: Perennial in zones 4-9. Germination at 70°F in 14-21 days. Space 8-12" apart. Full sun or part shade. Grows 36" tall.
